As it turned out, we were not even allowed to browse the store. We were told to sit and wait for an associate before even being allowed to look around. Immediately after this, we left. I understand they are trying to maintain an exclusive image, and I have no doubt they will justify this policy by stating they want to give each customer a personalized experience.
However, this is utter nonsense. A comfortable and pleasant shopping experience entails being able to browse the merchandise freely without having someone hawking over your shoulder.
After wanting to see a specific item up close, then an associate can be called upon to present the item for inspection and answer questions. Even more exclusive stores like Hermes let potential customers browse freely. That same afternoon, we went to Wempe so I can look at watches, and I openly walked around Pateks without issue.
The folks at Goyard need a reality check if they think their brand is far above other luxury goods in terms of exclusivity. Rude Rude. The staff thinks they are doing me a favor by allowing me to shop for their products. Go to Berdorf, they are vet helpful. I like the brand but the people that work at this particular store were very unhelpful and rude. The store in Paris is way better. Tried several times to arrange for them to repair my purse.
First they told me to email pictures of the damage so I did, they never replied, tried several more times. No reply ever.
Tried calling, never can get them to answer the phone. Still waiting on my wallet repair after 4 months with ZERO feedback or follow up. Shoddy quality from a wallet owned less than a year before sending for repair.
The only purchase I regret making. Im a returning customer and they gave abysmal service and very lax attitude about actually caring about the customer. They make home depot customer service feel intimate, in comparison.
Awful post-purchase experience. Brought my defective product in to the store as the shoulder straps were breaking and I had only been using the bag for four weeks.
They do not stand behind their product and the post service treatment was anything but luxury. I will never buy another Goyard product again. I bought two bags at Goyard in Paris and I had the most amazing experience.
One of their associate spent more than 1 hour showing me different styles when I went back to pick up my bags the same associate came to greet me,everything was wrap elegantly. Goyard sale associates are polite respectful and very knowledgeable a pleasure.
Brought a bag in for repair 2 months ago, today I was told it may be another month before it is fixed. This is to repair a manufacturing defect, by the way.
No follow up calls or emails, I have to call them myself and every time am given a different timeline. Unacceptable level of service for a luxury brand. JACOB is as real as it gets. Straight shooter super professional. Return policy is A non issue.
Management is fair. What a terrible terrible experience. Doorman was rude. No acknowledgement from sales assistants. Not even allowed to browse without someone with us. Waited out in the cold as only a handful of people allowed in at one time.
Jacob was a condescending associate who looked down on us as we decided on a colour and bag design. I get they want to feel important and exclusive but it did not work.
I walked out of there feeling like I would at the local Walgreens. Waited outside like everyone else to get in - sure since its a small store inside a townhouse. We felt uncomfortable and not welcomed after being outside freezing. Thanks for begrudgingly let us use your restrooms, however please let up on the rudeness a little.
Also just because I have kids that doesnt mean I brought in the stroller like one of your people accused me of leaving near the door. My own attitude was downhill from there because of their arrogance and pompous behavior.
Alas the experience was not for naught because of the very nice African American lady that helped us during check out who was super friendly and offered us bottled water - thank you! She talked to us like an excellent human being should who cares about what we think and our feelings other than because we were there about to drop some serious dollars. Do expect to be treated well because that lasts longer if not forever versus material things.
Rude staff. I purchased two white zippered bucket bags from the Bal Harbour store. Before the purchase, they assured me the white bottom would not wear off. After one month, both bags were worn off of the bottom. Two months later, I was in Manhattan and dropped into the store to discuss the condition of the bag Not quality. I am still working on getting them to make a return.
Products are beautiful and very reasonably priced. The customer service here was great. Highly recommend. I thought the staff was very courteous, the store is so elegant and well organized.
I ordered a personalized purse with for my bosss wife and it was ready before the 6 week delivery period for custom-made orders. They called ahead of time to let me know I could come by to pick it up.
For luxury leather goods their stuff falls apart easily.. Less than 1 year bag and wallet fraying at seems, poor stitching etc. Had to really wonder, is this a fake I bought from the real store? Will never buy Goyard again. Staff in store rude, poor return and repair policy, poor quality product. Racist employees. I barely got service here. Complete clowns in this store. Go anywhere else. I had to deal with a Mime. Zero communication skills.
Just please go get someone who can communicate with customers. Hilarious experience. Boutique of ubiquitous tote bags for the upper east side. Not as pedestrian as LV never full totes.
The staff is nice and the store is dog friendly. There are loads of color and personalization combinations. Note, shop will personalize the bag for free - monograms and stripes are included! No one else will have the same bag. Note, there is a 12 week lead time for customized bags I drop my bag for a service to reparate it , because after a month of use, one of the metallic pieces fell apart. The sales woman who helped me with this service told me that it would take max 1month to raparate it, timing was really important to me because I was traveling in a month and a half.
And I will be out of the country. I do like the brand!! But not this location!! I basically had to beg to order a bag. Never again. Wanted to buy a bag here but guess not! I been trying to contact to store for 3 hours and no one is answering. Goes on hold and no one is picking up.
Very disappointed.. Great service from start to finish, security was very very friendly after letting me in. I was promptly helped. Overall great experience. This out of the way store is beautiful. BUT, after a very friendly doorman let us in; the younger salesman didnt suggest anything beyond what i asked for. The new store is beautiful. Comparable to your Paris stores.
I was in your NY store twice last week and wanted to purchase a bag. I own five Goyard bags and love them. Your staff was so arrogant and condescending that I walked out. I was extremely disappointed in the level of service for such a soficiated store. My expections were not met which was a great disappointment.
Dont make the mistake of buying from this location. The in-store boutique at Barneys carries a better selection and actually lets you inspect different bags and colors without making it a production since the merchandise is on display and not kept under lock and key.
You should also spare yourself a potentially unpleasant retail experience. The staff that I interacted with had zero graciousness and no sense of the level of service that should accompany the sale of luxury goods. The business can get away with poor performance while the demand is high, the bags are on back-order and the boutiques customers are one-time purchasers, largely from the tourist tour bus crowd counting out bills to make the purchase but repeat customers will not be fostered, nor endeared to the brand with what I experienced.
Two anecdotes. The first time I was in the Maison Goyard store, immediately after purchasing a bag, finalizing the personalization details, etc. Notwithstanding the poorly communicated policy, the decision to enforce it, and the tone were both wrong - evidencing a lack of sensibility.
Second, Maison Goyard has a security guard who locks and unlocks the front door. This is merely a pretension since it is not really required for the merchandise, but is rather a formalistic mimicry of other 5th avenue boutiques that actually need the security compare, e.
Upon my returning to the boutique to pick up the bag several months later once it was ready, the guard was halting everyone at the door and telling them that a sales person would not be able to assist them for 15 minutes so it would be better to leave and come back.
Mentioning that I was there to pick up something that I already purchased made no difference and he stood blocking the door preventing entry until I said I would be fine waiting in the store and looking around. The wait was no more than 2 minutes.
