I for one did not like Torchlight that much, the first one then, and the 2:nd game doesn't look that much different. People, do try to learn that others will not always enjoy what you do. Per page: 15 30 Date Posted: 20 Oct, pm. If you could sit through D3, then this is much less of a drag.

The thing that makes this game much more enjoyable and interesting for me over D3 has to be the fact that you get ITEMS. To restate, items that you can use, that have good stats, that feel fun to use. This is what breaks up the "click-click-click: kill, loot, repeat" that is the way of hack'n'slash rpgs, for me at least. Getting a good item geming it up, enchanting it over and over again, and watching the numbers. I also rather like the little mini levels that you get via quests or maps or just a random enemy droping a portal, they really help break up the "clear, next floor down" which is diablo 1 in a nutshell.

But, yes, it is boring. I don't play these games more than times through. Maybe its just the gene, maybe its just me, but I have yet to play a H'n'S RPG that made me want to keep playing it, or go back and play it again later.

Great point of view, thx. And if you like the Hack'n'Slash gene, and want to try something that feels a bit different, check out Path of Exile. I've been playing that for the last days, and it seems to have a lot going for it; D2ish, HUGE talent tree, flask system, abilities are gems, barter system aka no "gold". Oh, and its free. I got this one for free, when GOG had their 48 hour promo for it.

It is a bit monotonous and eventually, you don't feel a need to try to follow the story. It's button mashing mayhem. Some of the fight sequences get so massive, that I can't tell what's hitting me or what it is that I am hitting. I just keep leveling up and going down further.

It is a great game for my workplace though 3rd shift call center , as I can pause it at any time and I don't miss out on any cut scenes or anything. User Info: Darkshowers. If I have points to spare, I am thinking of investing into Frost Wave In addition, I also learned Dervish and Elemental Overload spells which are hotkeyed so there is enough variety in spells to keep me going. My pet has heal all and summons.

If you play in 5 player games online and on a harder difficulty like Veteran or Elite, you'll definitely find it more challenging even with an OP build since enemies are tougher and you die faster so I would try that. If that still does not make the game exciting for you, I would start over and build a new class that is more fun for you to play.

I always mix it up and avoid the overpowered skills that everyone uses.

But that's just me. Why would I make myself weaker on purpose? I don't think i can bring myself to using inferior skills to make myself less bored. Besides, I don't think my boredom spawns from repetitive skill usage because Diablo 2 was actually fun regardless of whatever skill you buffed up. I always get bothered when people say this, especially people that intentionally try to make or use the most OP build or ability possible and then complain about boredom.

The problem is, if you make a game designed so it's very challenging to the most OP build possible, you make it impossible to play less powerful or different builds. It becomes a game where only one build is viable.
